David Ball (Chairman)
A career at the leading edge of health technology David spent over 30 years in senior corporate management with several of the worlds largest and most influential health care companies. Now retiredfrom business David has been a Newbury Magistrate for 17 years and Chairman of the Trust for 2 years. Married with one son and happy to live in West Berkshire
Paul Millard (Vice Chairman)
Dr Paul Millard founded the Trust and was Medical Advisor for many years. He is now semi-retired from General Practice and enjoying more flexible time with family and friends. He still retains a keen interest in palliative care, not just for people with cancer.
Sylvia Fones (Secretary)
Sylvia became a Trustee in 1999 following her retirement as Chief Personnel Officer for the Rutherford Appleton and Daresbury Laboratories. Having lost her husband to cancer she wanted to use her skills in a charity which gave patients and their families that 'special help and care'. The Trust has provided the ideal opportunity.
Gordon West (Treasurer)
Since retirinmg from a 35 year career in Banking, Gordon has been associated with various local charities and has held the post of Treasurer for the Trust for a number of years. He has one son and two grand-daughters and his interests include sport generally and football in particular. He enjoys travel and playing bridge.
Julie Noble
I am a Community Nursing Sister working as part of a District Nurse Team in West Berkshire. I have worked in the area for 30 years, both in the local hospital in Newbury and in the community. A large part of my daily work involves the nursing care and management of people with cancer and life-threatening illnesses.
Liz Chaplin
Liz has lived in Newbury for over 50 years where her four children were born and educated. Before his death from cancer, her husband taught locally and was a Magistrate. During his illness the Trust was wonderfully supportive and afterwards she became a fundraiser and then a Trustee.
Richard Drake
Richard is a practising Solicitor and Notary Public, with over 30 years experience in West Berkshire. He has practical knowledge of the legal framework within which charities operate and is, and has been, associaterd with a variety of local charities.
Delia Norgate
Delia came to Newbury in 1967 married to John. She worked as a dentist in the town fror 30 years. When her husband died of cancer in 1995 she joined the Trust. She has four children and nine grandchildren who all keep her very busy.
Linda Saint
Linda has lived in Newbury since 1969, married to Chris with two sons and one grandson. For 20 years she worked as a receptionist/dispenser for local GPs. Her parents died of cancer in old age. With this and her work she understands well the problems of terminal illness.
Angela Willis
A retired Senior Nurse Lecturer, Angela specialised in community care with a particulary interest in palliative care. She has experience working as a District Nursing Sister in East Berkshire. She has 8 grand-children and has just completed a BA in Fine Art at Southampton University.
