11.30 Professor Peter Johnson - How can we improve Cancer Survival?
Professor Peter Johnson is Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Southampton, National Clinical Director for Cancer at NHS England and Chair of the UK Office for Life Sciences cancer mission.  His work at NHSE covers the range of policy aimed at improving cancer survival, particularly the earlier and faster diagnosis of cancer, as well as its treatment. He was previously Chief Clinician for Cancer Research UK from 2008 to 2017. His research interests are in applied immunology and immunotherapy; lymphoma biology and precision medicine, early cancer detection biomarkers and clinical trials.

13.50 Fiona Talkington - The Silence of Pain. The Pain of Silence
One of BBC Radio 3’s longest serving presenters.  She lives with Neuropathic Pain as a result of treatment for cancer in 2008 and is a passionate advocate of finding new ways of expressing and communicating this lived experience. Her MSc is called ’The Silence of Pain, The Pain of Silence’. She has an honorary doctorate (D.Litt) from the University of Reading.

14.30 Lord Simon Stevens - NHS Pressures and Prospects
Lord Stevens is a crossbench peer and Chair of Cancer Research UK. He served as Chief Executive of NHS England for seven years from 2014 to 2021. In the decade before that, he led health care services in a number of countries, including the US. From 1997 to 2004 he was the UK Government's Health Adviser at the Department of Health and 10 Downing Street. Simon is a member of the Board of Directors of the Commonwealth Fund of New York and serves on its Investment Committee. He has previously been a trustee of several charities and non-profits in the UK and US, including the Kings Fund and the Nuffield Trust.
