Here are some of the milestone events that demonstrate how the money raised by and donated to Newbury Cancer Care has benefited West Berkshire

Fundraised for Cuddle Bed  
for the Rainbow Rooms

July 2020

On Greenham Trust's Double-matched day, £29,500 was raised to buy two specialist double beds for the Rainbow Rooms. These cuddle beds allow a partner or family member to lie close to their loved one and provide comfort in their   
last days.

The Rosemary Centre opens

June 2018

The new Cancer Care Centre is now open in The Greenham Wing of West Berkshire Community Hospital

Launch of  
The Rosemary Appeal

October 2016

Launched The Rosemary Appeal jointly with the Newbury & Thatcham Hospital Building Trust to raise £5.4 million to build an Advanced Cancer Care Centre and Kidney Dialysis Unit at West Berkshire Community Hospital

Rainbow Rooms in Donnington Ward upgraded

November 2015

Funded further £30,000 upgrade to the Rainbow Rooms in the Donnington Ward of The West Berkshire Community Hospital

Hard-standing built for mobile chemotherapy

November 2015

A further £25,000 was donated to West Berkshire Community Hospital for a hard standing for the mobile chemotherapy unit

Rainbow Rooms in Highclere Ward upgraded

February 2015

Financed £30,000 upgrade to the Rainbow Rooms in the Highclere Ward of The West Berkshire Community Hospital

Funded new beds and infusion pumps

Organised and managed seminar ‘Decision Making at the End of Life’ for 120 delegates with speakers Baroness Ilora Finlay (Professor Palliative Care), Lord George Carey (Former Archbishop of Canterbury), Mr Henry Fryensen (Solicitor, Chair of ACTAPS), Mr Chris Larner (Playwright & Author) & Dr Paul Howard (Consultant Palliative Medicine, Reading)

Funded a New Diagnostic Colonoscope (£35,000) and the initial costs (£25,000) for new scanning unit in West Berkshire Community Hospital

Managed seminar ‘Palliative Care in the Community’

Organised special project to create four Rainbow Rooms, two in Highclere Ward and two in Donnington Ward of West Berkshire Community Hospital. These rooms provide facilities combining the comfort of a private room with connecting doors through to an adjoining family room, each equipped with a kitchenette and a sofa bed to allow family members to stay at the hospital with their loved ones. The rooms provide a ‘Home from Home’ facility, combining all the comforts of a private room while still incorporating the necessary medical support facilities
