The Rainbow Rooms were built as part of a special project organised by Newbury Cancer Care, formerly known as Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust, and are based at the West Berkshire Community Hospital. There are four Rainbow Rooms, two on Highclere Ward and two on Donnington Ward. The Rainbow Rooms are run and operated by West Berkshire Community Hospital.
These rooms provide facilities combining the comfort of a private room with connecting doors to an adjoining family room, equipped with a kitchenette and a sofa bed, to allow family members to stay at the hospital with their loved one who is at the end stage of life.
